THE CREATION OF A GREAT IDEA
What started out as a chat over a coffee, the Babes Raid has taken on a life of its own !
Last year, while having a coffee at a rally we had attended, a few of us girls thought it would be a great idea if someone did a GIRLS rally. Something that promoted women riders, pillions or just for women who love bikes!!That someone turned out to be us! As the idea grew we received amazing support from some fantastic sponsors. and women riders everywhere!!
FUNDRAISING
We were all very agreeable on who we should raise money for as we wanted this to be a not for profit rally. As its all about girls, raising money for the GO research fund , who fund research into Gynaecological Oncology seemed a perfect choice. Gynaecological cancers are the 4th most common forms of cancer for Australian women. This means that approx 3900 women a year are diagnosed with some form of gynaecological cancer. We have seen close friends with their own battle with cancer. So this is a cause close to our hearts.
THE BABES RAID
The raid itself is going to be held in Ballina NSW. It will be on the weekend 10th to 12th September 2010 . We decided to hold the raid in Ballina due to the beautiful scenery and great rides down that way. It is easily accessible by highway or you can take some beautiful scenic routes. We will be based at the Lakeside Holiday Park ,this has multiple accommodation options.
Ballina has many other great places to stay if however this is not suitable.
Some great women have become involved in the planning and putting together of the Raid So it is going to be a fantastic weekend Weekend !! We have women who ride Sports Bikes , Cruisers, Scooters, Trike's Anything on 2 {or 3} wheels is welcome to participate. Or even if you don't want to bring a bike you just want to come and check out all the great chickies bikes.
This weekend will have something for all women of all ages who love to ride
